Mirror Bingo originally launched way back in 2008 and when it first joined the world of online bingo it was powered by the 888 software. Fast-forward eight years and they transitioned to the Virtue Fusion / Playtech software. They sit on this platform for a further six years and then they opt to make another software change in May 2020. The latest move saw the brand move to the Jumpman Gaming / 15 Network and all bingo games are now powered by Pragmatic Play.
If we’re honest, the 15 Network and Jumpman Gaming software had started to lose it’s appeal quite some time ago and the introduction of Pragmatic Play bingo gave the sites on the network a much needed boost. However, from Virtue Fusion to the 15 Network appeared to be a step backwards for Mirror Bingo.
Mirror Bingo always seemed to be in the shadow of it’s rival newspaper brand, Sun Bingo and whilst they both were on the Virtue Fusion network at one point, Sun Bingo moved to Gamesys and has grown in popularity with players. Mirror Bingo on the other hand has always been the poor relation.
The move to a network offering Pragmatic Play as a bingo option may bolster player interest because of the unique features this software brings to the virtual table.
These include:
- Bingo Blast – this game is exclusive to the Pragmatic Play product. It’s 90 ball bingo but 3 to 4 times faster than a traditional game. It was designed for mobile but can be played online too.
- Bingo Millions – this is played every Wednesday and Saturday evening at 10pm and is a networked game. Tickets are just 50p each and in this 90 ball game there is a twist. You’re not playing against other players; instead you are playing against the actual calls. The aim is to get the one line, two lines or full house in a set number of calls. The number of calls it takes you to hit the one line, two lines or full house, determines the prize.
We popped along to Mirror Bingo on a Sunday afternoon and sadly, the introduction of the Pragmatic Play offering doesn’t appear to have improved the player numbers in the bingo rooms.
The Bingo Blast game claims to be a new take on the classic game of bingo, with gameplay up to 4 times faster than a traditional game of 90-ball bingo. Players in the game buy bingo tickets in the normal way, then the game starts with bingo balls blasting across the screen. Balls then drop into place at a fast rate until there is an ultimate winner.
Pragmatic Play has been around since 2015 and is better known for its portfolio of slots games, video slots, video poker and other table games. The company launched its main bingo product in February 2020 and then announced Bingo Blast in April 2020.
It’s also worth noting that the bingo games platform from Pragmatic Play also replaced the bingo games in all Jumpman Gaming sites in June 2020.
The bingo game variants on offer from Pragmatic Play include; 90 Ball Ballroom, 80 Ball Boombox, 75 Ball Stars & Stripes as well as a whole host of mini games that players can access whilst in a bingo room.
